Tafer Hotels & Resorts Began with The Villa Group

Tafer Hotels & Resorts came about from the consolidation of various assets in Mexico, including the Villa Group Resorts and the construction of new hotels under the Garza Blanca and Hotel Mousai brands.

The Villa Group began in the later 1980s with its first vacation property which was acquired in Puerto Vallarta where the owner of what is now Tafer Hotels & Resorts and his partners in the Villa Group invested in the Villa del Mar, and Villa del Palmar resorts. The success of these projects inspired the venture in Cabo San Lucas with a second Villa del Palmar resort in Cabo. Sister resorts Villa La Estancia in Los Cabos and Villa del Arco Cabo were soon to follow in Baja California.

The success of the Puerto Vallarta resort, and indeed the popularity of Puerto Vallarta as a destination, encouraged the Villa Group to invest in Nuevo Vallarta, Riviera Nayarit. The Villa del Palmar Flamingos resort and the high-end Villa La Estancia were not far behind in development.

During this time the owner of Tafer Hotels & Resorts was also overseeing the development of his lakeside boutique hotel, Sierra Lago near Mascota (in the Sierra Madre mountains). At first it was just a few cabins, but Sierra Lago is now a fully functioning lakeside retreat which boasts two restaurants, an outdoor heated pool, chapel, sports courts, and a full schedule of activities to enjoy.

The next resort to join Tafer Hotels & Resorts family was Villa del Palmar Luxury Beach Resort and Spa Cancun, with its now famous Club Caribe vacation ownership program.
