Signing your contract before you have read it
Have a full understanding of your contract before signing it. You won’t be able to cancel your contract after the cooling off period just because you don’t like one of the clauses. You should make sure you get all the benefits and maximize whatever gains that you can have by reading your timeshare contract.

Lying about your economic situation
Don’t pretend you’re rich by lying about your finances as you will end up buying something you just cannot afford, which will make you miserable in the long run.

Buying based on photos

Spending your money on something that you’re not sure exists, makes you a fool. Before purchasing, you should see the resort and appreciate all the comforts it can give you in person. If someone asks you to make a decision by purchasing from a photographs, it will likely be an act of deception and a costly scam. Always visit the property if you can.

Saying you have the necessary credit cards when you don’t
You’ll be caught with your pants down, if you say you have a credit card and you’ve got nothing to show. Worse, you won’t be able to avail of your gift. You’ll see yourself wasting money and effort going to the presentation.

Attend the presentation according to the schedule given to you. Failing to do so, forfeits the purchase discounts which you are entitled to.

Trusting timeshare promoters who don’t have an official badge

Watch out for those scammers who pretend they work for a certain timeshare company. Let them show proof that they are legitimate. Ask for their official identification with a matching company logo. It’s better to be sure than be sorry at the end.

Going to a different hotel than the one mentioned by the promoter
Agreeing to attend a timeshare presentation for a certain resort means it should actually be done there. Finding out during the presentation day, that it’s not the same resort is a cause for worry. It might be a scam in progress. Report to the authorities. They are probably pulling a fast one and are out there, making money illegally.

Buying cheapest value timeshare
It’s a given notion, that you should buy only what you can afford. If you have some spare money for a much higher membership, then go for it. The benefits you can have are far much better than the cheap one. A higher membership means a better vacation that goes with a far more excellent service.

Going to multiple presentations just for the gifts
Timeshare companies have tightened up on those people who attend their timeshare presentations. They make sure that their visitors were informed of the right incentives not false promises, just to encourage them to attend the presentations. It may mean invalidation of such incentives. If you are not interested in becoming a timeshare member, don’t attend just for the freebies.
